The Ares is a Valorant gun in the "Heavy" class of weapons. It costs 1700 CREDS and we've ranked it in the B-Tier (Bottom Tier) in the current meta.
This weapon has "High" wall penetration and a 50-round magazine capacity.
Check out the Ares stats table and read our guide below for more information.
|Capacity||Wall Penetration||Fire Type|
|Fire Rds/Sec||Alt. Fire Type||Alt. Rds/Sec|
|10 → 13 increases over time||Zoom Mode (1.25x) (slightly reduces spread)||10 → 13 increases over time|
|Head Damage||Body Damage||Leg Damage|
|-72 (0-30m)-67 (30-50m)||-30 (0-30m)-28 (30-50m)||-25 (0-30m)-23 (30-50m)|
Whether aiming down the sights of the Ares or not, it's fire rate starts at 10 rounds per second and increases to 13 rounds per second over time.
It has pretty poor first shot accuracy compared to rifles and very aggressive recoil/spread.
Within 0-30 meters, the Ares does 72 damage to the head, 30 damage to the body, and 25 damage to the legs. It's damage drops slightly beyond 30 meters.
This means it will take at least 2 shots to kill a full health enemy and 3 shots to kill a full health enemy with Heavy Shields.
In general, we're not very big fans of the Heavy guns in Valorant. With that being said, the Ares is a lot more reasonable option than the Odin.
With a price of 1700 CREDS, the Ares is cheaper than all Rifles and only slightly more expensive than the Spectre SMG. However, the Spectre can two-shot full health opponents with Heavy Shields to the head from 0-20 meters.
This is why we generally favor the Spectre or Bulldog in a similar price range, though the Ares is good at spamming through smokes and benefits from the second largest magazine capacity in the game (50 rounds). It also is one of the few guns with a "High" wall penetration stat.
